The global economy is still in the doldrums and countries are still struggling to fight CORONAVIRUS. But the various giants of the eyewear industry are constantly plotting their future! Today ISUNNY would like to tell you about a major event in the Chinese eyewear market: PORTS Asia Holding Limited has recently made an important new announcement with Safilo Group, the eyewear designer, manufacturer, and distributor. It reads: PORTS licenses the Safilo Group to design, manufacture and distribute PORTS-branded sunglasses and optical eyewear and is a 10-year license agreement. The parties can continuously expand their distribution network in the Mainland China market in accordance with market demand and the pace of product development. As planned, the first series of glasses produced under this license will be available in January 2021.
Because neither side of this agreement has much influence.
Safilo is a leading global manufacturer of high-end eyewear, a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of sunglasses, optical and sports eyewear, founded in 1878, with a global presence in 40 countries, covering North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and China, and over 50 distribution partners in key markets. Safilo has a long history of collaboration with Dior, Dior Homme, Fendi, Banana Republic, BOSS, David Beckham, Elie Saab, Fossil, Givenchy, Havaianas, HUGO, Jimmy Choo, Juicy Couture, Kate Spade new york, Levi’s, Liz Claiborne, Love Moschino, Marc Jacobs, Max Mara, Missoni, M Missoni, Moschino, Pierre Cardin, rag&bone, Rebecca Minkoff, Saks Fifth Avenue, Swatch, Tommy Hilfiger and other international brands. Safilo is directly responsible for the design, production, and sale of these brand glasses.
PORTS is also a long-established international luxury brand, founded in Toronto in 1961 and the first international brand to enter the Chinese market in the early 90’s. It not only enlightened Chinese women’s fashion, but also changed their style of dressing, and was loved by elite Chinese women.
Rolando Santana, Director General of Ports Asia Holdings Limited, commented: “Since the inception of the brand, PORTS has paid great attention to the combination of perfect detail and craftsmanship, as this is the key to the success of each of our collections. Our brand is meticulous in its attention to detail and craftsmanship and is known for its minimalist and elegant design aesthetic. We consider Safilo to be the best partner for the PORTS eyewear collection, as they can fully understand the unique essence of the PORTS brand. We will collaborate with Safilo to launch more outstanding eyewear designs and work to expand them to the entire Chinese market”.
“In our development plan, China is a key strategic market and we understand that eyewear brands must be able to cater to the local target group, especially in China, which must be very specific, not only to ensure the right size but also to meet consumer tastes and local trends,” said Angelo Trocchia, CEO of Safilo Group. “As we bring such an important brand to the Chinese market, we are able to seize the ideal opportunity to further expand our business in China at a higher potential.”
While most consumers are looking forward to the new PORTS glasses, ISUNNY, as a professional eyeglass case manufacturer, is more curious about what style of new packaging they will use. Will it still keep the classic style from before (pictured below)? What do you think?
China’s rising economy and the rapid increase in the income of the middle class of Chinese residents has led to the growing spending power of the Chinese mainland, which is why more and more brands are increasingly bullish on the Chinese market. I wonder how you think about the market in China in the future. You are welcome to participate in the comments in the message area below, we are very happy to discuss with you.
